What is a digipak?

Digipaks were first created by MeadWestvaco.
Digipaks were made in 1982 but didn't become popular until early 2000. A digipak was the first alternative to a jewel case.


A digipak is a style of packaging for CD's. It is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums.
Digipaks often include a booklet of some kind, this may be a lyric book or just information about the CD and artist.
Digipaks normally consist of a book style paper board or card stock outer binding. It ususally has one or more plastic trays that hold CD ors DVD these plastic trays are attached to the inside of the digipak.
