Research

 

In my research I have used quite a lot of different technologies, ranging from Prezi to Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2013.

Google, I used this in every post except from, the peer evaluation and blog post feedback post. This helped me gather many different bits of information that helped me construct my posts. Without Google I would have not been able to complete this course! The benefits of being able to use google are: I can research so much about music videos and different artists and the difficulties with using google would be, you have to have internet connection to use it and it is sometimes not always accurate information that you find.

Wikipedia, I used this for a lot of my posts for research. The strengths with Wikipedia are, there is a lot of useful information on there which supports a lot of my posts. The difficulties with this 

Prezi, I didn't use Prezi on a lot of my research posts as I didn't want to overuse it even though I think it is such a creative way of presenting information in a different way that just typing text down on my blog pages with a few images. The strengths of Prezi are you can make information interesting to read, you don't have to just type text you can incorporate YouTube videos into the presentations to, this makes it more animated. The difficulties I found when using Prezi was that it sometimes crashed and I could have lost a lot of my work and sometimes it wouldn’t load very well which would then mean it would take up more of my time.

Google Forms, I used this to create a questionnaire for my audience research. The strengths of using this was it was easier than making your own questionnaire template for everyone to fill in and it was available for people to answer 24/7 online if they follow the link I sent them for them to answer the questions, this helped us because we didn’t need to take questionnaires to everyone and print them out.

YouTube, this was used a lot to help me construct my posts. The strengths of using it was, I could use it for educational videos about different topics I had to research, for example: the music video theories and I could also use it to look at original music videos to help me follow conventions. The difficulties were, I had to have internet connection to watch the videos and it may sometimes take a long time to load.

PowToon, I used this on one of my posts it is another type of presentation software. The strengths with this is it makes it more interesting to display information instead of just using Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentation software. The difficulties I found when using this was when I posted it to my blog the presentation would only work on Auto Play.

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2013, I only used this on one of my posts to add a way of presenting information to my blog instead of typing information straight onto the blog. The strengths of this were it was easy to make without the need for internet but the difficulties I found were it isn’t that interesting it can be a bit simple.

 

Planning

Adobe Premiere Pro, this was used on two of my planning posts, it is a really good professional editing software. The strengths with using this program was there is a lot of different things I can do on this software when editing and the difficulties I found were sometimes it would take a long time to render.

Photoshop CS3, this was used for two of my planning posts. The strengths with Photoshop were, it enabled me to make my magazine advert and digipak look so realistic. The difficulties I found were Photoshop is quite difficult to get the hang of and I think if I had knew more about it I could of made my things look a lot better.

Google Image Search I used this to search for any images that are used on my planning pages. The benefits with using this was I can find almost any image that I need and can use it very easily just by saving it and adding it to my planning pages. The difficulties with this was sometimes the internet is slow so it makes finding images a bit more difficult. Also sometimes the images aren't as clear as expected.

YouTube, I used this to display different videos for my planning. The strengths with using this are, YouTube is a very efficient video player and I can also edit on YouTube too which is sometimes quicker than using premiere pro if I only need to tweak a video a little. The difficulties with this are it depends on the internet speed to how quick the videos upload, it can take up a lot of time to upload videos sometimes.

Nikon DSLR D5200 camera, we used this to film the lip syncing practice tasks, and we used it to take the location photos too. The strengths with using this camera are, it is a very high quality camera and it is Elle's from my group so we always have access to it. The difficulties with using it are, we have to make sure it is charged all of the time ready for filming and it is expensive which means we have a lot of responsibility for it.

Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0, the strength with this is, it is a very good editing software but the difficulties with it are it is prone to crashing which can then lead to work being lost because it wasn't saved etc...

Facebook, the strengths with using this were, we can get into contact with the artist of the song really easily and we could all contact her using Facebook to find out different things to do with the song. The difficulties with this were, we couldn't use Facebook on the school computers so if we was at school we would have to use our phones instead and sometimes this limits what you can view.

Evaluation

 

Popplet, the strengths with this are, it is a very colourful interactive way of showing my information and is a different use of ICT. The difficulties with this were, it relied heavily on the internet to make sure that it was saved and I had to keep making sure the internet was working to save the work.
