Costume Analysis

Laura Mulvey's theory of male gaze is shown here, when you look at the costume it doesn't cover that much skin her legs and arms are shown, this has sexual connotations, which will attract the male audience.
The flowers on the playsuit are another link to nature, and nature is a connotation of the indie genre.
Pastel colours are extremely light shades of a colour, which links to feminism because of the lightness of the colour compared to bold, dark colours which will be more related to masculinity.
Lana Del Ray's costume is a playsuit and this is made up of pastel colours, pink and green. Pink demonstrates that she is girly because pink is a typical connotation of girls. The green may show that she has a strong connection to nature because you often think of green and link it to grass, flowers and being natural.
The hair piece made up of flowers, once again links to nature which I mentioned earlier. The colour of this hair piece is red, this has connotations of passion and love this piece of costume is very effective because it stands out and shows the audience that she has a edgy style and this can influence the audience to follow her style.
Her hair is down and wavy/curly, once again this is linked to the girly look she portrays throughout the whole costume. Having her hair down shows more of a flirtacious style, compared to having straight hair which is associated with being strict.
